What is Aspire Pharma Glyceryl Trinitrate (GTN) Sublingual Spray?
Aspire Pharma Glyceryl Trinitrate (GTN) Sublingual Spray is a fast-acting medication specifically formulated to provide rapid relief from chest pain (angina pectoris). Each metered dose delivers 400mcg of Glyceryl Trinitrate, a vasodilator that helps to widen the blood vessels, allowing more oxygen-rich blood to reach the heart muscle.
How It Works
The active ingredient, Glyceryl Trinitrate, belongs to the nitrates class of drugs. When sprayed under the tongue, it is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream. By relaxing the smooth muscles of the blood vessels, it reduces the workload on the heart, helping to alleviate the tightness and pain associated with an angina attack.
Usage and Administration
This spray is designed for oromucosal (sublingual) use. For fast relief of an acute angina attack:
- Sit down before using the spray.
- Hold the canister upright.
- Spray the prescribed number of doses (usually one or two) under your tongue.
- Close your mouth immediately. Do not inhale the spray.
It can also be used prophylactically (preventatively) 5 to 10 minutes before performing activities that may trigger angina, such as physical exertion or emotional stress.
Important Safety Information
Common side effects may include a temporary headache, dizziness, or a flushing sensation. If you experience severe dizziness or fainting, please sit or lie down.
Note: GTN spray is for the relief of angina. If chest pain persists after two doses (taken 5 minutes apart) or feels different from your usual angina, seek emergency medical attention immediately as this could be a sign of a heart attack.
