Fidson Cefuroxime Suspension (125mg/5ml) is a trusted second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections in children and infants from 3 months of age. It contains Cefuroxime Axetil, a powerful ingredient that stops the growth of bacteria.
What is it used for?
In Nigeria, doctors often prescribe this Cefuroxime syrup for babies and children to treat:
- Ear Infections (Otitis Media): Relieves pain and inflammation caused by bacteria.
- Throat Infections: Effective against tonsillitis and pharyngitis.

How to Prepare (Reconstitute) the Suspension
This medication comes as a dry powder in a 70ml bottle. To prepare it:
- Gently shake the bottle to loosen the powder.
- Add cool, boiled water up to the mark indicated on the bottle label.
- Close the bottle and shake vigorously for about 1 minute until the powder is fully mixed.
Storage and Shelf Life
Once mixed, the Fidson Cefuroxime suspension must be stored in a refrigerator (between 2°C and 8°C). Do not freeze it. Any unused portion must be discarded after 10 days of mixing to ensure safety and effectiveness.
