What is Fidson Cefuroxime Suspension?

Fidson Cefuroxime Suspension (125mg/5ml) is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic specifically formulated for infants and children. It contains Cefuroxime Axetil, which is effective against a wide range of bacterial infections.

Uses and Indications

This medication is commonly prescribed by doctors in Nigeria to treat mild to moderate infections such as:

• Ear infections (Otitis media)
• Throat and tonsil infections (Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis)
• Respiratory tract infections
• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
• Skin and soft tissue infections

How to Prepare (Reconstitution)

As this is supplied as a dry powder, it must be mixed with water before use:

1. Shake the bottle to loosen the powder.
2. Add cool, boiled water up to the ring mark on the bottle.
3. Shake well for at least one minute to ensure a uniform suspension.

Storage Instructions

After reconstitution, store the mixed suspension in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C). Do not freeze. Any unused portion should be discarded after 7 to 10 days.
