What is Clop 75?
Clop 75 is an oral antiplatelet medication that contains 75mg of Clopidogrel (as Clopidogrel Bisulfate). It is a prescription-only medicine (POM) in Nigeria, commonly used for the secondary prevention of atherothrombotic events. Clop 75 works by inhibiting platelet aggregation, which helps to prevent the formation of harmful blood clots in the arteries.
What is Clop 75 Used For?
Doctors prescribe Clop 75 for patients who have recently suffered from a heart attack (myocardial infarction), a recent stroke, or those with established peripheral arterial disease. By keeping the blood flowing smoothly, it significantly lowers the risk of having another cardiovascular event.
How to Take Clop 75
The standard dosage for Clop 75 is one 75mg tablet taken once daily, with or without food. It is important to take the medication at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level in your bloodstream. In certain acute situations, a healthcare provider may prescribe a higher loading dose (such as 300mg) before continuing with the daily 75mg dose.
Important Safety Information
Before you start taking Clop 75, inform your doctor if you have any bleeding disorders, stomach ulcers, or if you are planning to have surgery (including dental procedures), as Clopidogrel can increase the risk of bleeding. If you experience unusual bruising, prolonged bleeding from cuts, or dark/tarry stools, contact your GoMed pharmacist or doctor immediately.
