Contiflo XL is a prescription medication used primarily by men to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate, a condition medically known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). Each extended-release capsule contains 400 micrograms (0.4mg) of Tamsulosin Hydrochloride, which helps improve urine flow and reduce common urinary obstructions.

How Contiflo XL Works

Contiflo XL belongs to a class of drugs called alpha-1 adrenoceptor antagonists. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the prostate and the bladder neck. This relaxation allows urine to pass more easily, providing relief from symptoms such as:

• Weak or interrupted urinary stream.
• Hesitancy or straining to urinate.
• Urgency (feeling like you need to go right away).
• Frequent urination, especially at night (nocturia).

Dosage and Administration

For best results, follow the dosage prescribed by your doctor. The typical dose is:

• One capsule (400mcg) daily, taken approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day.
• The capsule should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or open the capsule, as this can interfere with the extended-release mechanism.

Side Effects of Contiflo XL

While generally well-tolerated, some users may experience side effects. Common ones include:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness, particularly when standing up quickly.
• Headache.
• Ejaculation disorders (such as retrograde ejaculation).
