Drez-V Gel 30g: Dual-Action Relief for Vaginal Infections
Drez-V Gel is a specialized antimicrobial medication formulated to treat mixed vaginal infections, often referred to in Nigeria as toilet infections. It combines the power of an antibiotic and an antifungal to provide comprehensive relief from symptoms like abnormal discharge, itching, and unpleasant odor.
What is Drez-V Gel?
Drez-V Gel is a topical vaginal gel used to treat infections caused by bacteria (Bacterial Vaginosis), fungi (Vaginal Candidiasis or Yeast Infection), and certain protozoa (Trichomoniasis). Unlike single-ingredient treatments, Drez-V addresses multiple causes of infection simultaneously.
Active Ingredients
Each tube contains:
- Metronidazole (1.0% w/w): An effective antibiotic that targets harmful bacteria and protozoa.
- Miconazole Nitrate (2.0% w/w): A potent antifungal agent that clears yeast infections.
How it Works
The combination of Metronidazole and Miconazole works by inhibiting the growth of the microorganisms responsible for the infection. By clearing these pathogens, the gel restores the natural balance of the vaginal environment, leading to fast relief from irritation and discharge.
How to Use Drez-V Gel
Drez-V Gel comes with a disposable applicator for easy and hygienic application.
- Wash your hands and the vaginal area thoroughly.
- Attach the applicator to the tube and squeeze the gel into the applicator until it reaches the prescribed mark (usually 5g).
- Insert the applicator deep into the vagina while lying on your back with knees bent.
- Depress the plunger to release the gel.
- Remove and dispose of the applicator (or clean if reusable as per specific pack instructions).
- It is best applied at bedtime to ensure the medication stays in place for several hours.
Precautions
- For Vaginal Use Only: Do not ingest or use on other parts of the body.
- Pregnancy: Consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Alcohol: Avoid consuming alcohol during treatment and for 48 hours after to prevent a "disulfiram-like" reaction (nausea, vomiting).
- Intercourse: It is advisable to avoid sexual intercourse during the treatment period to prevent re-infection or irritation.
