What is Drugent Eye/Ear Drops?
Drugent Eye/Ear Drops is a sterile topical antibiotic solution manufactured by Drugfield Pharmaceuticals Ltd, one of Nigeria's leading pharmaceutical companies. Each 10ml bottle contains Gentamicin 0.3% w/v, a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic effective against a wide range of bacteria.
What is it used for?
Drugent is a versatile treatment for susceptible bacterial infections in both the eye and the ear. It is commonly prescribed for:
- Bacterial Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): Inflammation of the eye's outer layer.
- Corneal Ulcers: An open sore on the cornea.
- Otitis Externa: Infection of the outer ear canal.
- Blepharitis: Inflammation of the eyelids.
How it Works
The active ingredient, Gentamicin, works by stopping the growth of bacteria. It targets both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms that cause infections in the eye and ear structures.
How to use Drugent Drops
For the best results, use Drugent as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
- For Eyes: Typically, 1-2 drops are instilled into the affected eye every 4 hours.
- For Ears: The affected ear canal should be cleaned, and 2-3 drops instilled 3-4 times daily.
Always complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve. If you have questions about usage or side effects, you can contact a GoMed pharmacist for professional guidance.

Store Drugent in a cool, dry place between 2°C and 25°C. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use and protect it from light. To prevent contamination, do not touch the dropper tip to any surface. Discard any remaining solution 28 days after first opening.
