What is Flixonase Nasal Spray?
Flixonase Nasal 50 Spray is a metered-dose aqueous nasal spray containing Fluticasone Propionate (50 mcg per actuation). It belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids, which help reduce inflammation in the nasal passages.
In Nigeria, Flixonase is a trusted choice for those seeking relief from persistent nasal symptoms caused by allergies.
Uses of Flixonase Nasal Spray
This medication is primarily used for the prophylaxis and treatment of:
- Allergic Rhinitis: Both seasonal (like hay fever) and perennial (year-round allergies to dust mites or pets).
- Nasal Symptoms: Effective relief for sneezing, itchy nose, runny nose, and nasal congestion.
- Catarrh: Many Nigerians use Flixonase to manage chronic catarrh and sinus-related discomfort.
How It Works
Unlike immediate-acting decongestant sprays, Flixonase works by treating the underlying inflammation. It may take 3 to 4 days of consistent use to reach its full effect. It provides non-drowsy relief for up to 24 hours.
Dosage and Administration
For adults and children over 12 years, the usual dose is two sprays in each nostril once a day, preferably in the morning. Once symptoms are under control, your doctor may recommend reducing the dose to one spray in each nostril daily.
