What is Gynaecosid 5mg/0.3mg?
Gynaecosid is a hormonal combination medication containing two synthetic hormones: Methyloestrenolone (5mg) and Methyloestradiol (0.3mg). It belongs to the class of estrogen and progestogen combinations and is primarily manufactured by Efroze Chemical Industries.
Gynaecosid Uses
Gynaecosid is primarily indicated for the treatment of secondary amenorrhea (where a woman’s regular periods have stopped for 3 months or more, and pregnancy has been ruled out). It works by mimicking the body's natural hormonal fluctuations to induce a withdrawal bleed, effectively "restarting" the menstrual cycle.
Other medical uses include managing symptoms of estrogen deficiency and certain urogenital conditions, but it should only be used under strict medical supervision.
Dosage and Administration
For secondary amenorrhea, the standard dosage is typically one tablet daily for two consecutive days. However, you must follow the specific instructions provided by your doctor or pharmacist. It is usually taken orally with water.
Important Safety Information: Not for Abortion
There is a dangerous misconception in some regions that Gynaecosid can be used as an emergency contraceptive or to terminate a pregnancy. Gynaecosid is not an abortifacient. It is ineffective for abortion and its use during pregnancy is strictly contraindicated as it may cause hormonal disturbances. If you suspect you are pregnant, do not take this medication and consult a healthcare professional immediately.
