What is Ipinnia XL?
Ipinnia XL is a branded version of ropinirole hydrochloride, formulated as a prolonged-release (extended-release) tablet. It belongs to a group of medicines called dopamine agonists, which act like the naturally occurring dopamine in the brain to help manage symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
Uses of Ipinnia XL 2mg
Ipinnia XL is primarily indicated for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. It can be used alone to delay the need for levodopa treatment or in combination with levodopa to help manage "off" periods when the effects of other medications wear off.
The "XL" stands for extended-release, meaning the medicine is released slowly into your body over 24 hours. This allows for a convenient once-daily dosing schedule.
How to take Ipinnia XL
- Frequency: Take your tablet once a day, at the same time each day.
- Method: Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet, as this will destroy the prolonged-release mechanism and could cause an overdose.
- Food: It can be taken with or without food. Taking it with food may help reduce nausea.
Side Effects & Precautions
Common side effects may include nausea, sleepiness, or dizziness. Some patients may experience sudden sleep onset; avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel drowsy.
If you notice a "ghost" tablet or shell in your stool, do not be alarmed. This is the non-absorbent shell of the tablet and is normal for this type of medication.
Always consult with a GoMed pharmacist or your doctor before starting or stopping this medication.
