Healthure Iron Sucrose 100mg/5ml Injection
Healthure Iron Sucrose Injection is an intravenous (IV) hematinic agent used primarily to treat iron deficiency anemia. It is a polynuclear iron (III)-hydroxide sucrose complex designed to replenish iron stores in the body effectively.
This medication is specifically indicated for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including those on dialysis, and individuals for whom oral iron supplements are ineffective or cannot be tolerated. Often referred to in Nigeria as a "blood tonic injection," it provides a more rapid and reliable increase in iron levels compared to oral alternatives.
Uses of Iron Sucrose Injection
- Treatment of Iron Deficiency Anemia: For patients where oral iron therapy is not suitable.
- Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD): Supports red blood cell production in patients with kidney-related anemia.
- Rapid Iron Replenishment: Used when a fast correction of iron levels is clinically necessary.
How It Works
Iron sucrose provides iron directly into the bloodstream, where it is taken up by the bone marrow to produce hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body.
