Lodium Capsules 2mg – Fast Relief for Running Stomach

Lodium is an effective antidiarrheal medication widely used in Nigeria to manage symptoms of acute diarrhea, commonly known as "running stomach" or "watery stool." Each capsule contains 2mg of Loperamide Hydrochloride, an antimotility agent that helps restore your body's natural rhythm.

How Lodium Works

Lodium works by slowing down the movement of the intestines (peristalsis). This allows the gut more time to absorb water and electrolytes from the waste, resulting in firmer stools and a reduction in the frequency and urgency of bowel movements. It is designed to provide fast relief, usually within 1 to 3 hours after the first dose.

Uses of Lodium Capsules

• Acute Diarrhea: Quick management of sudden bouts of diarrhea.
• Running Stomach: Effective relief for loose, watery stools.
• Traveler’s Diarrhea: Helps manage digestive upsets while on the move.
• Chronic Diarrhea: Used under medical supervision for long-term management of bowel conditions.

Dosage and Administration for Adults

• Initial Dose: Take 2 capsules (4mg) immediately after the first loose stool.
• Follow-up: Take 1 capsule (2mg) after each subsequent loose stool.
• Important: Do not exceed 8 capsules (16mg) in any 24-hour period.
• Lodium is generally not recommended for children under 12 years unless prescribed by a doctor.

Safety Precautions

Lodium should not be used if you have high fever, bloody stools, or severe abdominal pain (dysentery). If symptoms do not improve within 48 hours, stop taking the medication and consult a GoMed pharmacist or your doctor. Ensure you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water or using Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) while treating diarrhea.
