Prescription Antimalarial Combination for Effective Malaria Treatment
Luther contains a fixed-dose combination of Artemether 80 mg and Lumefantrine 480 mg, two potent antimalarial agents used for the treatment of uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum. Artemether acts rapidly to kill malaria parasites in the blood, while Lumefantrine provides sustained activity to prevent recurrence. This World Health Organization (WHO)–recommended combination therapy is effective even against resistant strains of malaria.
Composition:
Active Ingredients: Artemether 80 mg, Lumefantrine 480 mg per tablet.
Inactive Ingredients: Microcrystalline Cellulose, Maize Starch, Povidone, Magnesium Stearate, and Film Coating Agents.
Clinical Uses:
- Treatment of acute, uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum.
- Effective in areas with chloroquine-resistant malaria strains.
Possible Side Effects:
- Headache, dizziness, or weakness.
- Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or loss of appetite.
- Sleep disturbances or palpitations (rare).
- Allergic reactions such as rash or itching (infrequent).
Precautions:
- Prescription-only medicine — use strictly under medical supervision.
- Take with food or milk to improve absorption and effectiveness.
- Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy unless prescribed by a physician.
