Optrex Hayfever Relief Eye Drops are a medicated solution designed to provide fast and effective relief from eye allergies. If you are experiencing itchy, red, sore, or watery eyes due to hayfever, dust, or pet dander, these drops can help soothe the irritation.
How it Works
The active ingredient in these eye drops is Sodium Cromoglicate (2.0% w/v). This is a mast cell stabilizer that works by preventing the release of natural substances (like histamine) in your eyes that cause allergic reactions. By blocking these triggers, Optrex helps to stop the symptoms before they start or reduces them significantly during allergy season.
How to Use Optrex Hayfever Eye Drops
For adults and children aged 6 years and over:
- Wash your hands thoroughly before use.
- Gently pull down your lower eyelid to form a small pocket.
- Tilt your head back and squeeze one or two drops into each eye.
- Use the drops 4 times daily, or as directed by your pharmacist or doctor.
Important Precautions
- Contact Lenses: If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before using these drops. Wait at least 15 minutes after application before putting your lenses back in, as the preservative may discolour them.
- Shelf Life: Once opened, the bottle must be discarded after 28 days.
- Pregnancy: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is best to consult with a GoMed pharmacist or your doctor before starting treatment.
