Otrivine Child Nasal Drops 0.05% – 10ml

Otrivine Child Nasal Drops are specially formulated to provide relief from nasal congestion in children aged 6 to 12 years. The active ingredient, xylometazoline hydrochloride (0.05%), works by reducing excessive nasal secretions and returning swollen blood vessels to their normal size, thereby opening up and clearing the nasal passages.

Ingredients

• Active Ingredient: Xylometazoline hydrochloride (0.05% w/v)
• Other Ingredients: Sodium chloride, sodium phosphate, sodium acid phosphate, disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride, sorbitol, hypromellose, and water.

Uses

Otrivine Child Nasal Drops are indicated for the relief of nasal congestion associated with:

• Common colds
• Perennial and allergic rhinitis (including hay fever)
• Sinusitis

How to Use

For children aged 6 to 12 years, under adult supervision:

• Administer 1 to 2 drops into each nostril once or twice daily.
• Do not exceed 2 doses within a 24-hour period.
• Do not use continuously for more than 5 consecutive days without consulting a doctor.

Administration Instructions

1. Practice using the dropper to ensure accurate dosage.
2. Have the child gently blow their nose to clear the nostrils.
3. Tilt the child's head back slightly.
4. Apply the prescribed number of drops into each nostril.
5. To prevent the spread of infection, ensure that only one person uses the bottle.

Warnings and Precautions

• Not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
• Do not use if the child has:
  • Heart or circulatory disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid)
  • Closed-angle glaucoma
  • Had recent nasal surgery
• Prolonged use may lead to rebound congestion (worsening of nasal congestion).
• If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a healthcare professional.

Possible Side Effects

Some children may experience:

• Temporary discomfort such as burning or stinging in the nose
• Dryness or irritation of the nasal mucosa
• Headache
• Nausea

If any side effects become severe or if the child experiences hallucinations, restlessness, or sleep disturbances, discontinue use and consult a doctor immediately.

Storage

• Store below 25°C and keep out of reach of children.
• Do not use the bottle for more than 28 days after opening.
