Skineal Cream is a popular and effective "triple-action" topical medication used across Nigeria for treating a variety of mixed skin infections. It combines antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties to provide relief from itching, redness, and swelling.
What is Skineal Cream used for?
Skineal is primarily used for the short-term treatment of inflammatory skin conditions complicated by fungal or bacterial infections. It is highly effective for:
- Fungal Infections: Ringworm (tinea corporis), athlete's foot (tinea pedis), and jock itch.
- Bacterial Infections: Minor skin infections caused by bacteria.
- Eczema and Dermatitis: Reducing inflammation and itching in affected areas.
Active Ingredients
Each gram of Skineal contains:
- Ketoconazole (10mg): A potent antifungal agent.
- Clobetasol Propionate (0.25mg): A high-potency corticosteroid that reduces inflammation.
- Neomycin Sulfate (5000 IU): An antibiotic to combat bacterial growth.
How to use Skineal Cream
- Wash and dry the affected area.
- Apply a thin layer of the cream twice daily (morning and night).
- Gently massage it into the skin.
- Important: Do not use for more than 2 weeks consecutively.
Safety and Side Effects
Due to the presence of Clobetasol Propionate (a strong steroid), Skineal should be used with caution.
- Side Effects: May include skin thinning, burning sensations, or irritation.
- Misuse: It should NOT be used as a general face cream, for pimples, or for skin lightening (bleaching). Prolonged use can damage the skin.
