Sniper DDVP 1000EC Insecticide (Dichlorvos)
Sniper DDVP 1000EC is a powerful, broad-spectrum organophosphate insecticide widely used across Nigeria for agricultural, industrial, and professional pest management. Distributed by Saro AgroSciences Ltd, it contains Dichlorvos (1000g/L) as its active ingredient, providing a rapid knockdown effect against a wide variety of pests.
Uses and Effectiveness
Sniper is highly effective because it works through contact, stomach, and fumigant action. It is primarily formulated for warehouse de-infestation, grain storage, and field crop protection. It is effective against:
- Crawling Insects: Cockroaches, bed bugs, ants, and mites.
- Flying Insects: Houseflies and mosquitoes.
- Stored Product Pests: Weevils and moths in silos.
Mixing and Dosage Guide
For professional applications, Sniper must be mixed with water before use. Following the correct mixing ratio is essential for safety and effectiveness:
- For Cockroaches and Bed Bugs: Use 15ml of Sniper per 300ml of water. Apply to cracks, crevices, and hiding spots.
- For Flies and Ants: Use 3ml of Sniper per 200ml of water.
- Large Scale/Field Crops: Consult a professional for 1.25% per hectare application rates.
Safety Precautions and NAFDAC Regulations
Warning: Sniper DDVP is a Class Ib (Highly Hazardous) chemical. It is toxic and intended for use by professional handlers and certified agro-chemical users.
Due to its high toxicity and risk of domestic accidents, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) restricted the sale of the 100ml pack size in 2019. It is no longer legally sold in open markets or supermarkets.
- Protective Gear: Always wear a face mask, gloves, and protective clothing when spraying.
- Ventilation: Do not stay in the room during or immediately after spraying. Treated areas must be locked and left to ventilate for at least 12 to 24 hours before re-entry.
- Storage: Keep strictly out of reach of children and far away from food items.
