What is Timovision Timolol Eye Drops?
Timovision (often referred to as Timo-Vision) is a sterile ophthalmic solution containing Timolol Maleate 0.5%. It belongs to a group of medicines called beta-blockers. These eye drops are primarily prescribed to lower elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with conditions like open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
How It Works
Timovision works by reducing the amount of fluid (aqueous humor) produced inside the eye. When the fluid production is controlled, the pressure inside the eye drops, which helps prevent damage to the optic nerve and protects your vision from worsening over time.
How to Use Timovision Eye Drops
For the best results, follow these steps:
- Wash your hands thoroughly before use.
- Tilt your head back and gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
- Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze one drop into the pocket.
- Close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Press gently on the corner of your eye (near the nose) to prevent the medicine from draining out.
- Do not touch the dropper tip to your eye or any surface to keep it sterile.
Precautions and Safety
Timovision is a Prescription-Only Medicine (POM). It should only be used under the guidance of an ophthalmologist or a qualified healthcare provider.
- Contraindications: Do not use this medicine if you have asthma, severe COPD, or certain heart conditions like a slow heart rate (bradycardia).
- Pregnancy: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a GoMed pharmacist or your doctor before using Timolol eye drops.
- Contact Lenses: Remove contact lenses before applying the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.
Possible Side Effects
While generally well-tolerated, some users may experience:
