XARELTO 20MG
Description: XARELTO 20MG is an anticoagulant medication used in the prevention and treatment of serious blood clotting conditions. These may include deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and stroke prevention. It's also used to prevent the formation of blood clots following a hip or knee surgery, and in individuals with atrial fibrillation.
Active Ingredient:
- Rivaroxaban: Rivaroxaban, the active ingredient in XARELTO, is a type of anticoagulant known as a factor Xa inhibitor. It works by blocking the activity of a substance in the blood called factor Xa, which is involved in blood clotting. By inhibiting this substance, rivaroxaban helps to reduce the risk of blood clots forming.
Health Benefits:
- Blood Clot Prevention: XARELTO is effective in preventing the formation of dangerous blood clots in the body.
- Stroke Prevention: For patients with atrial fibrillation, XARELTO can help to prevent strokes caused by blood clots.
- Post-Surgery Application: Following a hip or knee replacement surgery, XARELTO can be used to reduce the risk of blood clot formation.
Side Effects and Precautions:
- Bleeding: XARELTO can cause serious and sometimes fatal bleeding. Symptoms may include unusual bleeding or bruising, pink or brown urine, red or black stools, coughing up blood, or vomiting that looks like coffee grounds. Report any signs of bleeding to your doctor immediately.
- Spinal/Epidural Hematoma: People who undergo spinal/epidural procedures while using XARELTO may have an increased risk of serious bleeding complications.
- Precautions: Before using XARELTO, inform your healthcare provider about any medical conditions you have, especially kidney disease, liver disease, bleeding problems, or if you're pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Avoid activities that may increase your risk of bleeding or injury.
