Product Overview
Yasmin is a combined oral contraceptive pill containing drospirenone (3 mg) and ethinylestradiol (0.03 mg). It is used for birth control and helps regulate menstrual cycles, reduce menstrual pain, and improve acne in some users.
Indications
Yasmin is prescribed for:
- Contraception – Prevents pregnancy when taken correctly.
- Menstrual Cycle Regulation – Helps control irregular periods.
- Acne Management – Reduces hormonal acne by regulating androgen levels.
- Premenstrual Symptoms – Can help reduce bloating, mood swings, and breast tenderness.
Dosage and Administration
Pack Contains 21 Tablets:
- Take one tablet daily for 21 days, followed by a 7-day pill-free break.
- A withdrawal bleed (similar to a period) usually occurs during the pill-free week.
- Start a new pack after the 7-day break, even if bleeding has not ended.
How to Take Yasmin:
- Swallow with water at the same time each day.
- Can be taken with or without food.
Missed Dose Instructions:
- If less than 12 hours late, take the missed pill as soon as possible and continue as normal.
- If more than 12 hours late, follow the instructions in the patient leaflet, as additional contraception (e.g., condoms) may be needed.
Precautions
Not Suitable for Everyone:
- Avoid if you have a history of blood clots, stroke, heart disease, or liver problems.
- Not recommended for smokers over 35 years old due to increased cardiovascular risks.
Drug Interactions:
- Some medications (e.g., certain antibiotics, epilepsy drugs) may reduce Yasmin's effectiveness.
- Consult your doctor if you are taking other medications.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
- Not for use during pregnancy.
- Consult a doctor before use while breastfeeding.
Side Effects

Serious side effects (seek medical attention):
