Yasmin 21 Tablets Pack
Yasmin is a highly effective combined oral contraceptive pill used by women across Nigeria for reliable birth control and other hormonal benefits. Each pack contains 21 tablets, formulated with two active hormones: Drospirenone (3mg) and Ethinylestradiol (0.03mg).
Yasmin is known for its "anti-mineralocorticoid" properties, which means it may help reduce hormone-related water retention and bloating compared to some other contraceptive pills.
What is Yasmin Used For?
While primarily used to prevent pregnancy, Yasmin is also frequently prescribed in Nigeria for:
- Hormonal Acne: Helps clear skin by regulating androgen levels that cause breakouts.
- Period Regulation: Useful for managing irregular or heavy menstrual cycles.
- PMDD Relief: Reduces symptoms like mood swings and breast tenderness associated with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder.
How to Use Yasmin 21 Tablets
To ensure maximum effectiveness (over 99% when used correctly), follow these steps:
- Daily Routine: Take one tablet at the same time every day for 21 consecutive days. Following the arrows on the blister pack can help you keep track.
- The 7-Day Break: After finishing the pack, do not take any pills for 7 days. You will typically experience a "withdrawal bleed" (similar to a period) during this time.
- Starting a New Pack: Start the next blister pack exactly on the 8th day, even if your bleeding has not finished.
If you miss a dose or are late by more than 12 hours, your protection against pregnancy may be reduced. Please consult the patient leaflet or speak with a GoMed pharmacist for guidance on whether you need additional protection like condoms.
