Yasmin 21 Tablets Pack: Contraception & Acne Treatment in Nigeria
Yasmin is a trusted combined oral contraceptive pill widely used in Nigeria for effective birth control and hormonal balance. Each blister pack contains 21 active tablets, formulated with a combination of two hormones: Drospirenone (3mg) and Ethinylestradiol (0.03mg).
How Yasmin Works
Yasmin works primarily by preventing ovulation (the release of an egg). It also thickens the cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperm to reach an egg, and changes the lining of the womb to prevent a fertilized egg from implanting.
Key Benefits of Yasmin 21
Beyond its 99% effectiveness as a contraceptive when taken correctly, Yasmin is often prescribed in Nigeria for:
- Hormonal Acne Treatment: Helps clear skin by regulating hormones that cause oiliness and breakouts.
- Reducing Bloating: Unlike some other pills, the drospirenone in Yasmin can help reduce hormone-related water retention.
- Period Regulation: Helps manage irregular cycles and reduces the severity of menstrual cramps.
- PMDD Management: Relieves symptoms of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder.
Dosage and Administration
To ensure maximum protection, take one tablet daily at the same time for 21 days. Follow the arrows on the pack to stay on track. After finishing the 21 tablets, take a 7-day break (the pill-free interval) before starting the next pack. You will usually have a withdrawal bleed during this break.
If you miss a dose or are late by more than 12 hours, your protection may be reduced. If you have questions about missed pills or side effects, please contact a GoMed pharmacist for professional guidance.
Important Safety Information
Yasmin is a prescription-only medicine. It is not recommended for women with a history of blood clots, heart conditions, or certain types of cancer. If you are over 35 and smoke, consult your doctor about the risks associated with hormonal contraceptives.
Note: Always read the patient information leaflet provided in the pack.
