Brimopress Eye Drop (Brimonidine Tartrate 0.2%) 5ml
Brimopress Eye Drop is a sterile ophthalmic solution specially formulated to manage intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Maintaining healthy eye pressure is critical, as elevated pressure can lead to optic nerve damage and potential vision loss if left untreated.
How Brimopress Works
The active ingredient in Brimopress is Brimonidine Tartrate (0.2%), a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It works through a dual-action mechanism to effectively lower eye pressure:
- Reduces Fluid Production: It decreases the amount of aqueous humor (the fluid inside the eye) being produced.
- Improves Fluid Drainage: It enhances the drainage of fluid from the eye through the uveoscleral outflow pathway.
This combined effect helps to achieve and maintain target eye pressure levels, protecting your long-term vision.
Dosage and Administration
Always apply Brimopress exactly as prescribed by your ophthalmologist. The standard dosage for adults is:
- One drop in the affected eye(s) two to three times daily, with doses spaced approximately 8 to 12 hours apart.
When applying the drops, ensure the tip of the dropper does not touch your eye or any other surface to avoid contamination. If you are using other eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes between each application.
Side Effects and Precautions
While generally well-tolerated, some users may experience mild side effects such as:
- Eye redness or stinging
- Blurred vision
- Dry mouth or fatigue
If you notice any signs of an allergic reaction or severe eye irritation, stop use and consult your doctor or speak with a GoMed pharmacist immediately.
Storage and Handling
Store Brimopress at room temperature (below 25°C). Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. To ensure the sterility of the solution, discard the bottle 28 days after first opening.
