What is Clinival-V?
Clinival-V is a powerful combination therapy designed for the treatment of mixed vaginal infections. Each pack contains 7 vaginal suppositories (often called "vaginal inserts" or "pessaries" in Nigeria) formulated with two active ingredients: Clindamycin Phosphate and Clotrimazole.
It is commonly used to treat what is locally referred to as "toilet infection"—a broad term for symptoms like unusual discharge, itching, and fishy odor caused by bacterial vaginosis (BV) or yeast infections (candidiasis).
How Clinival-V Works
Clinival-V provides dual action against pathogens:
- Clindamycin is an antibiotic that stops the growth of harmful bacteria.
- Clotrimazole is an antifungal that targets the fungi responsible for yeast infections.
This combination makes it particularly effective when the exact cause of the infection is not known or when multiple infections are present at once.
How to Use Clinival-V Vaginal Inserts
To ensure fast relief and effective treatment, follow these steps:
- Wash your hands and the vaginal area thoroughly.
- Remove one suppository from the foil pack.
- Lie on your back with your knees bent toward your chest.
- Gently insert the suppository as deep as possible into the vagina using your finger or the applicator if provided.
- It is recommended to use the product at bedtime to prevent the medication from leaking out while you move.
Important Considerations
- Treatment Duration: Continue the full 7-day course even if your symptoms improve after 2 or 3 days.
- Pregnancy: Consult a GoMed pharmacist or your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- During Period: It is generally better to start treatment after your menstrual period to ensure the medication stays in place.
- Side Effects: You may experience mild burning or itching immediately after insertion. If this persists, consult a healthcare professional.
