What is Daktarin Oral Gel?
Daktarin Oral Gel is an effective antifungal treatment used to treat and prevent fungal infections of the mouth, throat, and gastrointestinal tract. It is specifically formulated to combat oral thrush (candidiasis), which often appears as white patches or soreness in the mouth.
How It Works
The active ingredient in Daktarin is miconazole (2%), which works by destroying the fungi causing the infection. The gel has a sticky consistency, ensuring it remains in contact with the affected areas for a longer period before being swallowed, providing targeted relief.
Usage and Dosage
Daktarin Oral Gel should be applied after meals. For the best results, the gel should be kept in the mouth for as long as possible before swallowing.
- Adults and Children (2 years and older): 2.5 ml of gel applied 4 times a day.
- Infants (4 months to 2 years): 1.25 ml of gel applied 4 times a day.
Note: For infants, ensure the gel is applied to the front of the mouth and monitor the child to avoid choking risks. Do not use in infants under 4 months old.
