What is Daktarin Oral Gel?
Daktarin Oral Gel (40g) is a highly effective antifungal treatment used to treat infections of the mouth, throat, and gut. It contains the active ingredient miconazole, which works by destroying the fungi and bacteria that cause infections like oral thrush (candidiasis). The gel is specifically formulated with a sticky consistency that allows it to remain in contact with the affected areas in the mouth for a longer period, ensuring better results.
Key Benefits and Uses
- Treats Oral Thrush: Effectively clears white patches and soreness caused by yeast infections in the mouth.
- Dual Action: Not only kills fungi but also certain types of bacteria that can complicate infections.
- Safe for Adults and Children: Can be used for adults and infants (over 4-24 months old) under medical supervision.
- Sugar-Free Formula: Safe for teeth and can be used by diabetics.
- Pleasant Flavor: Flavored with orange and cocoa for easier application, especially in children.
How to Use Daktarin Oral Gel
For best results, Daktarin should be applied after meals. If you are treating oral infections, the gel should be kept in the mouth for as long as possible before swallowing.
- Adults and Children over 2 years: Apply 2.5 ml (half a measuring spoon) four times daily.
- Infants (4-24 months): Apply 1.25 ml (a quarter of a measuring spoon) four times daily.
Important Safety Note for Infants: To avoid the risk of choking, do not apply the gel to the back of the throat. Instead, apply small amounts to the front of the mouth. Always consult a GoMed pharmacist or your doctor before administering to infants.
