What is GFlox Eye Drops?
GFlox Eye Drops 5ml is a potent antibiotic ophthalmic solution formulated with Gatifloxacin 0.3%. It is a 4th-generation fluoroquinolone used to treat various bacterial infections of the eye. This sterile solution is effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, providing fast relief from ocular irritation and discharge.
How It Works
The active ingredient, Gatifloxacin, works by blocking essential bacterial enzymes (DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV). This stops the bacteria from replicating and repairing their DNA, effectively killing the infection. It is commonly prescribed for:
- Bacterial Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)
- Corneal Ulcers
- Blepharitis (Infection of the eyelids)
Directions for Use
Always follow the dosage recommended by your doctor or pharmacist. A typical regimen involves:
- Days 1 & 2: Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) every 2 hours while awake (up to 8 times daily).
- Days 3 to 7: Instill 1 drop up to 4 times daily.
Ensure the dropper tip does not touch any surface, including the eye, to maintain sterility.
