This linctus provides a triple-pronged approach to respiratory relief:
- Antihistamine Action: Helps stop sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes.
- Expectorant Action: Loosens thick mucus or phlegm in the chest.
- Mucolytic Effect: Helps break down and clear catarrh from the respiratory tract.
Active Ingredients
Each 5ml of the linctus contains:
- Chlorpheniramine Maleate (2mg): An antihistamine that reduces allergy and cold symptoms.
- Ammonium Chloride (100mg): An expectorant that helps thin and loosen mucus.
- Sodium Citrate (44mg): Acts as a buffer and mild mucolytic.
Directions for Use and Dosage
Piriton Expectorant should be administered orally. It is generally suitable for children aged 2 to 12 years. Always use the provided measuring cup or a medicine spoon to ensure the correct dose.
- Children (2–6 years): As directed by a healthcare professional (usually 2.5ml to 5ml).
- Children (6–12 years): Usually 5ml to 10ml, administered 3 to 4 times daily.
