Piriton Tablets

Product Overview

Piriton Tablets contain chlorphenamine maleate, an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergies and hay fever. It helps reduce sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and skin rashes caused by histamine, a chemical released during allergic reactions.

Indications

Piriton Tablets are indicated for:

• Seasonal Allergies (Hay Fever): Relieves sneezing, nasal congestion, and itchy or watery eyes.
• Skin Allergies: Effective for urticaria (hives), eczema, and reactions to insect bites or stings.
• Food and Drug Allergies: Reduces mild allergic reactions to certain foods or medications.
• Common Cold Symptoms: Helps alleviate runny nose and sneezing.

Dosage and Administration

• Adults and Children Over 12 Years:
  • Take one tablet (4 mg) every 4–6 hours as needed.
  • Maximum dose: 6 tablets (24 mg) in 24 hours.
• Children Aged 6–12 Years:
  • Half a tablet (2 mg) every 4–6 hours.
  • Maximum dose: 3 tablets (12 mg) in 24 hours.
• Children Under 6 Years: Not recommended.
• Administration:
  • Swallow the tablet with water.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Precautions

• Drowsiness: Piriton may cause drowsiness; avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
• Alcohol: Avoid consuming alcohol, as it may enhance drowsiness.
• Medical Conditions: Use with caution in patients with asthma, glaucoma, urinary retention, or prostate problems.
• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult a healthcare provider before use.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Drowsiness or sedation
• Dry mouth
• Dizziness
• Blurred vision
• Nausea or upset stomach

Rare but serious side effects:

• Difficulty urinating
• Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)
• Confusion or hallucinations

Storage

• Temperature: Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
• Keep Out of Reach of Children: Ensure the medication is stored safely.
