What is Postpill Drug Used For?
Postpill is an "emergency" solution used to prevent pregnancy after:
- Unprotected sexual intercourse.
- Failure of regular birth control (e.g., condom breakage or missed pills).
Note: Postpill is not an abortion pill. It will not work if you are already pregnant and it does not harm an existing pregnancy.
How to Take Postpill (Dosage)
To ensure the highest success rate, take the medication as soon as possible.
- Timing: Swallow the single 1.5mg tablet within 72 hours (3 days) of the encounter. It is most effective when taken within the first 12–24 hours.
- Administration: You can take the tablet with or without food.
- Vomiting: If you vomit within 2 hours of taking the tablet, contact a GoMed pharmacist immediately. You may need to take a second dose because the first may not have been absorbed.
