What is Ytacan Cream 30g?
Ytacan Cream 30g is a broad-spectrum topical antifungal medication formulated to treat various skin infections caused by fungi and yeasts. The active ingredient is Clotrimazole (1% w/w), a well-recognized imidazole derivative that works by disrupting the fungal cell membrane.
Ytacan is widely regarded as one of the best antifungal creams in Nigeria for managing common dermatological issues. It provides effective relief from the itching, redness, and irritation associated with fungal overgrowth.
What is Ytacan Cream Used For?
Ytacan Cream is indicated for several conditions, including:
- Toilet Infection: In Nigeria, this term is commonly used for symptoms of fungal or yeast-related discomfort. Ytacan is highly effective for these cases.
- Ringworm (Tinea Corporis): Treats the red, circular rashes that appear on the body.
- Athlete’s Foot (Tinea Pedis): Manages infections between the toes.
- Jock Itch (Tinea Cruris): Relieves fungal infections in the groin area.
- Candidiasis: Treats yeast infections, including external vaginal irritation (vulvitis) and diaper rash in infants.
- Otomycosis: Used for fungal infections of the outer ear.
How to Apply Ytacan Cream for Best Results
- Clean the Area: Wash and thoroughly dry the affected skin before application.
- Apply Thinly: Spread a thin layer of the cream over the infected area and the surrounding skin.
- Frequency: Gently rub it in 2 to 3 times daily.
- Consistency: Continue the treatment for at least 2 weeks (and up to 4 weeks for athlete's foot) even if symptoms clear up. This prevents the infection from returning.
Important Precautions
- External Use Only: Avoid contact with eyes and mouth.
- Not for Acne: Ytacan is an antifungal, not an antibacterial treatment. It should not be used for bacterial pimples.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: If you are pregnant or nursing, it is recommended to consult a GoMed pharmacist before starting treatment.
- Ytacan vs. Ytacan Plus: Note that Ytacan Cream contains only Clotrimazole. Ytacan Plus is a "Triple Action" cream that also contains an antibiotic and a steroid.
