What is Ytacan Cream?
Ytacan Cream is a broad-spectrum topical antifungal medication manufactured by Sagar Vitaceuticals Nigeria Limited. It contains Clotrimazole (1% w/w), which works by stopping the growth of fungi that cause skin infections. It is a trusted solution in Nigeria for treating various fungal and yeast-related conditions.
Ytacan Cream Uses
Ytacan is primarily used to treat dermatomycoses and candidal infections, including:
- Ringworm (Tinea corporis): Red, itchy, circular rashes on the body.
- Athlete’s Foot (Tinea pedis): Fungal infection between the toes.
- Jock Itch (Tinea cruris): Infection in the groin area.
- Yeast Infections (Candidiasis): Including diaper rash, vulvitis (external vaginal irritation), and balanitis.
- Toilet Infection: Frequently used for symptoms associated with what is locally termed "toilet infection" in Nigeria.
How to Apply Ytacan Cream
For best results, clean and dry the affected area before application. Apply a thin layer of Ytacan cream 2-3 times daily or as directed by your healthcare professional. Continue treatment for at least two weeks even if symptoms disappear to prevent recurrence.
Important Safety Information
- Ytacan vs. Ytacan Plus: Regular Ytacan is a pure antifungal (Clotrimazole). Ytacan Plus is a "Triple Action" cream containing an antibiotic and a steroid, intended for different uses.
- Pregnancy: Consult your doctor or a GoMed pharmacist before using Ytacan if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Face & Acne: Ytacan is an antifungal and is not an effective treatment for bacterial acne or pimples. For facial application, avoid contact with eyes and mouth.
- Side Effects: While generally well-tolerated, some users may experience mild stinging or redness. If irritation persists, consult a pharmacist.
If you have questions about whether Ytacan is right for your condition, you can contact a GoMed pharmacist for expert advice.
