What is Zyncet Sachet?
Zyncet is a brand of Cetirizine Hydrochloride, a second-generation antihistamine used to manage various allergic conditions. In Nigeria, a "sachet" of Zyncet typically refers to a blister strip containing 10 film-coated tablets. It works by blocking histamine, a natural substance in the body that causes allergic reactions.
What is Zyncet used for?
Zyncet provides fast-acting relief from symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergies, including:
- Allergic Rhinitis (Hay Fever): Sneezing, runny or itchy nose, and nasal congestion.
- Allergic Conjunctivitis: Red, itchy, and watery eyes.
- Chronic Urticaria (Hives): Skin rashes, swelling, and itching.
Dosage and Administration
- Adults and Children over 12 years: One 10mg tablet once daily.
- Children aged 6 to 12 years: 5mg (half a tablet) twice daily or 10mg once daily.
- The tablets should be swallowed with a glass of water and can be taken with or without food.
Side Effects and Precautions
Zyncet is generally well-tolerated and is less likely to cause drowsiness than first-generation antihistamines. However, some users may experience:
- Mild sleepiness or fatigue
- Dry mouth
- Dizziness
Important: If you have severe kidney disease, consult your doctor before using this medication. Although Zyncet is a non-drowsy antihistamine, you should observe how you react to it before driving or operating machinery.
