Terbinafine 250mg tablets are an antifungal medication used to treat various fungal infections, particularly those affecting the fingernails or toenails (onychomycosis) and skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm.
Onychomycosis: Fungal infections of the fingernails or toenails.
Tinea Pedis: Athlete's foot.
Tinea Cruris: Jock itch.
Tinea Corporis: Ringworm of the body.
Adults: One 250mg tablet taken orally once daily.
Duration: Treatment duration varies depending on the infection type and severity. For onychomycosis, treatment may last 6 weeks for fingernail infections and 12 weeks for toenail infections. Skin infections typically require 2 to 6 weeks of treatment.
Administration: Take with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Liver Function: Terbinafine can cause liver problems. Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver disease.
Allergies: Do not take if you are allergic to terbinafine or any of its components.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your healthcare provider before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Drug Interactions: Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, as terbinafine may interact with certain drugs.
Common: Headache, diarrhea, rash, upset stomach, abdominal pain, changes in taste or smell.
Serious: Liver damage (symptoms include yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, persistent nausea or vomiting), severe skin reactions, changes in mood or mental health.
