Ranferon capsules are a hematinic supplement formulated to treat and prevent iron deficiency anemia and related conditions. Each capsule contains a combination of essential nutrients that support red blood cell production and overall health.
Each Ranferon capsule contains:
Ferrous Fumarate: 305 mg (equivalent to 100 mg of elemental iron)
Folic Acid: 0.75 mg
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C): 75 mg
Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12): 5 µg
Zinc Sulfate: 5 mg
Ranferon capsules are indicated for:
Iron Deficiency Anemia: Treatment of anemia due to inadequate iron intake or absorption.
Anemias of Nutritional Origin: Addressing deficiencies arising from poor diet, pregnancy, infancy, or childhood.
Folic Acid Deficiency: Managing anemia resulting from folic acid deficiency.
Vitamin B12 Deficiency: Supplementing vitamin B12 in cases of deficiency.
Adults and Adolescents: One to two capsules daily, taken in a single dose or divided doses, as directed by a physician.
Administration: Swallow capsules whole with water. Taking them after meals may reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.
Allergies: Contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to any of the components.
Iron Overload Disorders: Not recommended for patients with conditions like hemochromatosis or hemosiderosis.
Drug Interactions: Iron may reduce the absorption of certain medications, including tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones. Consult a healthcare provider for guidance.
Common side effects may include:
Gastrointestinal Discomfort: Nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, or abdominal pain.
Dark Stools: Iron supplements can cause darkening of stools, which is harmless.
Allergic Reactions: Rarely, rash or hypersensitivity may occur.
Temperature: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Keep Out of Reach of Children: Ensure that the medication is stored safely away from children.
