Dual-Action Treatment for Fungal Skin Infections with Inflammation
Canesten® HC Cream combines an antifungal agent with a mild corticosteroid to effectively treat fungal skin infections accompanied by inflammation. This dual-action formula not only targets the root cause of the infection but also alleviates associated symptoms such as redness, swelling, and itching.
Active Ingredients
Clotrimazole: 1% w/w – An antifungal agent that disrupts the cell membranes of fungi, leading to their elimination.
Hydrocortisone Acetate: 1% w/w – A mild corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and itching.
Indications
Canesten® HC Cream is indicated for the treatment of various fungal skin infections where inflammation is present, including:
Athlete’s Foot (Tinea Pedis): Fungal infection affecting the feet.
Ringworm (Tinea Corporis): Fungal infection of the body.
Fungal Sweat Rash (Intertrigo): Infection occurring in skin folds.
Nappy Rash: Fungal infection in infants caused by Candida species.
Irritation of the Vulva or Penis (Candidal Vulvitis or Balanitis): Inflammation due to fungal infection.
Dosage and Administration
Application: Apply a thin and even layer of Canesten® HC Cream to the affected area two to three times daily. Gently rub in the cream.
Duration: Treatment should not exceed 7 days. If symptoms persist beyond this period, consult a healthcare professional.
Special Considerations:
Foot Infections: Wash and dry feet thoroughly, especially between the toes, before application.
Avoid Occlusive Dressings: Do not cover the treated area with bandages or dressings unless directed by a doctor.
Hand Hygiene: Wash hands immediately after applying the cream to prevent the spread of infection.
Precautions
Allergies: Do not use if allergic to clotrimazole, hydrocortisone, or any other ingredients in the cream.
Avoid Certain Areas: Not suitable for use on facial areas, broken skin, or for treating cold sores, acne, or other viral skin infections.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult a healthcare professional before use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
Interactions with Contraceptives: This product may reduce the effectiveness of rubber contraceptives, such as condoms or diaphragms. Use alternative precautions for at least five days after using this product.
Possible Side Effects
Local Reactions: Some individuals may experience itching, rash, blisters, burning, discomfort, swelling, irritation, redness, or peeling of the skin at the application site.
Allergic Reactions: If signs of an allergic reaction occur, such as severe rash or swelling, discontinue use and seek medical attention immediately.
