Daktarin Oral Gel 20g: Effective Relief for Oral Thrush
Daktarin Oral Gel is a specialized antifungal medication used to treat and prevent fungal infections of the mouth, throat, and gullet. It is highly effective against oral thrush (candidiasis), providing relief from the discomfort and white patches associated with the infection.
How Daktarin Oral Gel Works
The active ingredient in Daktarin is Miconazole (20 mg/g). It belongs to a group of medicines called "antifungals." Miconazole works by destroying the fungi and yeasts that cause infections by damaging their cell membranes, preventing them from growing and spreading.
Key Benefits
- Fast-acting formula: Targets the infection at the source in the mouth and throat.
- Sugar-free & Orange flavor: Pleasant taste makes it easier for both adults and children to use.
- Broad-spectrum: Effective against various types of fungi and some bacteria.
How to Use Daktarin Oral Gel
For best results, the gel should be held in the mouth for as long as possible before swallowing. This ensures the medicine stays in contact with the infected area.
- Adults and Children (2 years+): Apply 2.5 ml (half a 5 ml spoonful) of gel four times a day after meals.
- Infants (6–24 months): Apply 1.25 ml (a quarter of a 5 ml spoonful) of gel four times a day after meals.
Important for Babies: When applying to infants, ensure the gel is applied to the front of the mouth and never at the back of the throat to avoid choking hazards. Always consult a GoMed pharmacist or your doctor before administering to infants.
Storage and Safety
Store Daktarin Oral Gel at room temperature (below 30°C). Keep the tube tightly closed. If you are taking blood thinners (like Warfarin) or have liver issues, speak to a healthcare professional before use.
