Klovinal Pessaries (Vaginal Insert)
Klovinal Pessaries are a highly effective "triple-action" treatment widely used in Nigeria for various vaginal infections, commonly referred to locally as "toilet infections." This medication combines an antibiotic, an antifungal, and a probiotic to provide comprehensive relief and restore vaginal health.
What is Klovinal Used For?
Klovinal is formulated to treat mixed vaginal infections, including:
- Bacterial Vaginosis (BV): Often characterized by an unpleasant fishy odor and discharge.
- Yeast Infections (Candidiasis): Common symptoms include intense itching and thick, white discharge.
- Trichomoniasis: A parasitic infection that causes discomfort and discharge.
Key Ingredients & Benefits
- Metronidazole: Targets harmful bacteria and parasites to provide fast relief.
- Clotrimazole: A powerful antifungal agent that clears yeast infections.
- Lactobacillus Spores: These "good bacteria" help restore the natural vaginal flora and maintain a healthy pH balance to prevent the infection from coming back.
How to Use Klovinal Insert
For the best results, follow these steps:
- Preparation: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
- Insertion: Lie on your back with your knees bent. Gently insert one (1) pessary deep into the vaginal canal using your finger or an applicator.
- Timing: It is best to use Klovinal at bedtime to allow the medication to be absorbed overnight.
- Duration: Use one pessary daily for six (6) consecutive days, even if your symptoms clear up sooner.
Important Precautions
- Pregnancy: If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, please consult a GoMed pharmacist or your doctor before using Klovinal.
- Menstruation: You should continue the treatment even during your period.
- Alcohol: Avoid taking alcohol during treatment to prevent potential reactions with Metronidazole.
- Sensation: It is common to feel a mild burning or "pepperish" sensation after insertion; however, if this becomes severe or you develop a rash, stop use and speak with a professional.
Note: Always complete the full 6-day course to ensure the infection is fully cleared.
