How to Apply Penicillin Eye Ointment
To use Penicillin ointment for eyes effectively:
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
- Tilt your head back and gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
- Squeeze a small ribbon (about 1cm) of the ointment into the pocket.
- Close your eye gently for 1 to 2 minutes to allow the medication to spread evenly.
- Important: Do not let the tip of the tube touch your eye or any other surface to maintain the sterility of the medication.
Safety & Precautions
- Allergy Warning: Do not use this product if you have a known allergy to penicillin or cephalosporins. Topical penicillin carries a risk of contact dermatitis or sensitization in some individuals.
- Contact Lenses: You should avoid wearing contact lenses while you have an eye infection or while using this ointment.
