LASIX 40MG
LASIX 40MG is prescribed to treat fluid retention (edema) in individuals with conditions such as congestive heart failure, liver disease, or kidney disorders like nephrotic syndrome. Additionally, Lasix is used in the management of high blood pressure (hypertension).
Active Ingredient
- Furosemide
Health Benefit
Lasix (furosemide), an anthranilic acid derivative, acts as a potent diuretic for both adults and children. It is employed to address excessive fluid accumulation (edema) associated with congestive heart failure, liver failure, renal failure, and nephritic syndrome.
Administration
For oral use, the initial dose typically ranges from 20 to 80 mg taken once. Subsequent doses may involve repeating the same dose or increasing by 20 or 40 mg, administered no sooner than 6 to 8 hours after the previous dose. Adjustments are made until the desired diuretic effect is achieved.
Precaution
Caution is advised as Lasix may cause an increase in blood sugar levels, especially in diabetic individuals. If there is a noticeable change in blood or urine sugar test results, consult your doctor. Additionally, Lasix can heighten skin sensitivity to sunlight, necessitating the use of sunscreen, hats, and protective clothing when outdoors. Common side effects include increased urination, thirst, muscle cramps, itching or rash, weakness, dizziness, spinning sensation, and diarrhea.
