Overview
Brimonidine Tartrate Ophthalmic Solution 0.2% is an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist used to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. By reducing IOP, it helps prevent damage to the optic nerve and loss of vision.
Indications
- Open-Angle Glaucoma: Used to reduce elevated IOP in this chronic condition.
- Ocular Hypertension: Helps manage high pressure inside the eye, which can lead to glaucoma.
Dosage and Administration
- Recommended Dosage: One drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily, approximately 8 hours apart.
- Instructions: To avoid contamination, do not let the dropper tip touch the eye or any other surface. Wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting contact lenses.
