NCI Chloramphenicol Eye Drops is a sterile, preservative-free, ophthalmic solution used for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis. This medication, containing the active ingredient chloramphenicol, is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that effectively halts the growth of bacteria. It is specifically formulated to treat bacterial eye infections and can also be employed as a preventive measure after eye surgery.
Chloramphenicol is a medication used in the management and treatment of superficial eye infections, including bacterial conjunctivitis and otitis externa.
Temporary blurred vision, burning, stinging, or redness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, promptly inform your doctor or pharmacist.
Put one drop into the affected eye every 2 hours (during waking hours) for the first 2 days. Then, every 4 hours for the next 3 days, or as your doctor advises. Tilt your head back and gently pull down your lower eyelid with a clean finger.
