What is Dalacin T Topical Lotion?
Dalacin T Topical Lotion (10mg/ml) is a prescription-only antibiotic emulsion manufactured by Pfizer. It is specifically formulated to treat acne vulgaris (pimples). The active ingredient, clindamycin phosphate (1%), works by stopping the growth of bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes) that contribute to acne inflammation.
Unlike the gel or solution variants, this lotion base is smooth and watery, making it an excellent choice for individuals with dry or sensitive skin who require a gentle yet effective acne treatment.
How Dalacin T Works
The clindamycin in Dalacin T penetrates the skin and reduces the concentration of free fatty acids on the skin surface. This double action helps to:
- Suppress the bacteria responsible for acne.
- Reduce redness and inflammation associated with breakouts.
- Prevent new pimples from forming.
Directions for Use
- Cleanse: Wash the affected area with a mild soap and pat dry.
- Apply: Shake the bottle well. Apply a thin film of the lotion to the entire area affected by acne, not just the individual pimples.
- Frequency: Typically used twice daily, or as directed by your healthcare provider.
- Consistency: It may take 4–6 weeks of regular use to see significant improvement.
Precautions
- For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and broken skin.
