Getzlox 750mg Tablets (10s)
Getzlox 750mg is a high-potency, broad-spectrum antibiotic containing Levofloxacin. It belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of medicines and is used to treat severe or resistant bacterial infections. Getzlox is manufactured by Getz Pharma and is widely prescribed by healthcare professionals in Nigeria for various systemic infections.
What is Getzlox 750mg used for?
This medication is primarily indicated for treating infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:
- Respiratory Tract Infections: Such as hospital-acquired pneumonia and acute bacterial sinusitis.
- Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Including complicated UTIs and chronic bacterial prostatitis (infection of the prostate gland).
- Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Effective for treating deep-seated skin infections.
- Other Severe Infections: May be used in specific protocols for the prevention of inhalational anthrax and plague.
How it works
Levofloxacin, the active ingredient in Getzlox, works by stopping the growth of bacteria. It inhibits specific enzymes (DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV) that bacteria need to replicate and repair their DNA. Because it is a 750mg high-dose formulation, it is often effective where lower doses or other antibiotics might fail.
Dosage and Administration
Getzlox 750mg is typically taken once daily for 5 to 14 days, depending on the severity and type of infection.
- Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
- It can be taken with or without food.
- Ensure you complete the full course prescribed by your doctor, even if you start feeling better, to prevent antibiotic resistance.
