Overview

Tavanic 500mg Tablets contain the active ingredient Levofloxacin Hemihydrate, which is equivalent to 500 mg of Levofloxacin. Levofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic that is used to treat various bacterial infections, particularly those affecting the lungs, skin, and urinary tract.

Uses

Tavanic 500mg is prescribed for:

• Respiratory Infections: Such as pneumonia and bronchitis.
• Skin Infections: Including severe skin infections and soft tissue infections.
• Urinary Tract Infections: Infections of the kidneys, bladder, or urethra.

Dosage and Administration

• Dosage: The typical dose is 500 mg once daily. However, the dosage may vary based on the severity of the infection and the patient's kidney function.
• Administration: Can be taken with or without food. It is recommended to take the tablet at the same time each day with a full glass of water. Avoid taking antacids, dairy products, or supplements containing magnesium, calcium, aluminum, or iron within two hours before or after taking the tablet.

Precautions and Warnings

• Photosensitivity: Patients should avoid excessive exposure to sunlight or UV light, as Tavanic can increase sensitivity to light.
• Tendon Damage: There is a risk of tendonitis or tendon rupture, particularly in older adults and those taking corticosteroids.
• Central Nervous System Effects: Can cause dizziness, confusion, or other nervous system disturbances. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery.
