Tinizol 500mg 4 Tablets (Tinidazole)
Tinizol 500mg is a potent antimicrobial medication containing Tinidazole, manufactured by Shalina Healthcare. It is widely used in Nigeria to treat various infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and protozoa.
What is the work of Tinizol 500mg?
In Nigeria, Tinizol is frequently prescribed for what is colloquially known as a "toilet infection." While this term is non-medical, it usually refers to Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) or Trichomoniasis. Tinizol works by stopping the growth of the bacteria or parasites causing discharge, itching, and odor.
Tinizol 500mg Uses
- Bacterial Vaginosis: Clears vaginal infections and abnormal discharge.
- Trichomoniasis: Treatment for both partners to prevent reinfection.
- Amoebiasis and Giardiasis: Effective against intestinal parasites.
- Surgical Infections: Used to prevent infection after gynecological or abdominal surgeries.
Dosage: 4 Tablets at Once
The most common dosage for Bacterial Vaginosis and Trichomoniasis is a single 2g dose, which means taking 4 tablets at once.
- Always take Tinizol tablets with food to prevent stomach upset.
- Complete the full course as directed by your doctor, even if symptoms disappear quickly.
Tinizol and Alcohol
It is critical to avoid alcohol while taking Tinizol and for at least 72 hours (3 days) after your last dose. Combining Tinizol with alcohol can cause a severe "disulfiram-like" reaction, including rapid heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, and headache.
Side Effects
Common side effects include a metallic taste in the mouth, nausea, or dizziness. If you experience any severe reaction, contact a GoMed pharmacist immediately.
