Administration and Dosage

Follow the doctor's prescription for dosage. Generally, the initial dose involves taking one (1) tablet, followed by a second tablet 8 hours later. Subsequently, take 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening for the next 2 days.

Precaution and Side Effects

Possible side effects of COARTEM may include headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, weakness, fever, chills, tiredness, muscle/joint pain, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, cough, and trouble sleeping. It is important to inform your doctor about all current medicines and any changes, especially if you are using carbamazepine, phenytoin, rifampin, or St. John's wort. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, consult with your doctor.It is important to also note that COARTEM is not known to be safe and effective in children younger than 2 years of age or weighing less than 5 kilograms (11 lbs).
